Stars 2, Jets 1: Tyler Seguin scored a power-play goal to extend his point streak to nine games and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 32 shots for host Dallas.

Veteran Ray Whitney also tallied with the man advantage as the Stars moved within one point of Phoenix for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Captain Jamie Benn notched two assists in Dallas' second victory following a four-game winless streak (0-3-1).

Bryan Little scored a power-play goal and Al Montoya finished with 25 saves in his fifth straight start for the Jets, who fell for the ninth time in 11 contests (2-6-3). Winnipeg resides seven points behind the Coyotes with nine games remaining on its schedule.

Whitney buried a slap shot from the left faceoff circle 5:32 into the first period to open the scoring before Seguin continued his mastery of the Jets by cleaning up a loose puck at 16:09 of the second for his team-leading 32nd goal.

Little spoiled Lehtonen's bid for his 26th career shutout with 2:44 remaining as he deposited a sharp carom into the net following Evander Kane's shot from the point. The tally was Little's 22nd of the season and second in as many games, but Lehtonen held the fort to improve to 4-0-1 in five career starts versus Winnipeg.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seguin, who has seven goals and nine assists during his point streak, has netted six tallies and set up four others in five meetings with Winnipeg this season. ... Dallas D Sergei Gonchar, who had an assist on Whitney's goal, has set up six goals against the Jets this campaign. ... Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd missed the contest to be with his wife Brandi, who gave birth to a daughter on Sunday. The last time Ladd missed a game was during the 2010-11 season when the team was known as the Atlanta Thrashers.
