Senators 4, Lightning 3 (SO): Captain Jason Spezza scored in regulation and recorded the only shootout goal in the second round as visiting Ottawa ended a six-game losing streak.

Defenseman Erik Karlsson recorded a goal and set up a pair to extend his point streak to seven games while Kyle Turris also scored for the Senators, who were 0-4-2 in their previous six contests. Robin Lehner turned aside 35 shots for Ottawa, which killed off a Lightning power play in overtime.

Captain Steven Stamkos scored in his 400th career game while defenseman Victor Hedman and rookie Nikita Kucherov also tallied for Tampa Bay, which extended its point streak to nine games (5-0-4). Ondrej Palat had two assists and Ben Bishop made 29 saves for the Lightning, who dropped into a tie with Montreal in points for second place in the Atlantic Division.

Karlsson opened the scoring 3:57 into the contest from the slot before Kucherov snapped a 14-game goal drought 70 seconds later, knocking home Tyler Johnson's pass. Spezza popped in a rebound 8:12 into the second session and Mark Stone found Turris alone in front for a 3-1 Ottawa lead only 44 ticks later.

Hedman scored on a blast from the high slot through a screen on the power play with 6:34 left in the second to pull the Lightning within one. Stamkos batted in a rebound at the left side of the net after Palat’s shot off the crossbar caromed to him 5:44 into the third to tie the game with the man advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay C Valtteri Filppula had an assist on Hedman’s goal to extend his career-best point streak to nine games. . … Ottawa RW Bobby Ryan, the team’s leading goal scorer (23), sat out with a lower-body injury. He is expected to miss Tuesday’s game at Florida. … Stamkos boasts a league-best 206 goals since the beginning of the 2009-10 season and has 229 in 400 career games.
