Canucks 2, Predators 0: Nicklas Jensen and defenseman Alex Edler scored 73 seconds apart in the third period while rookie Eddie Lack posted his fourth shutout as host Vancouver skated past Nashville.

Captain Henrik Sedin recorded two assists for the Canucks, who climbed within three points of Phoenix for the second wild card in the Western Conference. Lack finished with 30 saves to improve to 13-14-4 in his first NHL campaign as Vancouver began a stretch during which it plays eight of its final 11 games at home.

Carter Hutton turned aside 20 shots for the Predators, who have lost three in a row. Nashville, which trails the Coyotes by nine points, fell to 0-2-0 on its four-game road trip.

Jensen snapped the scoreless tie at 6:06 of the third, beating Hutton high to the glove side with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle. Edler doubled the lead by ripping a one-timer from the right point past the goaltender just five seconds into Vancouver's only power-play opportunity of the contest.

Lack was his busiest in the first period, stopping 14 shots. The 26-year-old Swede made nine saves in the middle session and seven in the third to help keep the Canucks' playoff hopes alive.
