Bruins 5, Hurricanes 1: Jarome Iginla scored twice and Chad Johnson made 29 saves to remain undefeated at home as Boston skated to its season-high eighth straight victory.

Milan Lucic collected a goal and two assists and Chris Kelly and rookie defenseman Torey Krug also tallied for the Bruins, who pushed their lead to three points atop the Eastern Conference after Pittsburgh dropped a 4-0 decision to Philadelphia. David Krejci notched three assists as Boston won all three meetings with Carolina this season and improved to 10-2-1 in matinee encounters.

Alexander Semin scored to extend his point streak to seven games and Cam Ward turned aside 36 shots for the sputtering Hurricanes, who fell for the eighth time in 11 contests.

Lucic breezed up the right wing before finishing off a give-and-go with Krejci by depositing the puck into the gaping net from along the goal line to open the scoring at 15:28 of the first period. Boston doubled its advantage with 2:36 left in the second as Lucic worked behind the net before backhanding a feed to Iginla, whose shot from deep in the circle sailed under the crossbar.

Semin trimmed the deficit 3:53 into the third as his bouncing shot skipped over the extended right pad of Johnson. Boston answered by scoring twice in a 13-second span, with Kelly finishing off a pretty passing sequence at 12:49 before Iginla netted his team-leading 23rd goal from the doorstep.
