Blackhawks 2, Sabres 1: Captain Jonathan Toews snapped a tie early in the third period as visiting Chicago secured its first winning streak since returning from the Olympic break.

Buffalo native Patrick Kane also scored for the Blackhawks, who have posted consecutive wins for the first time since Feb. 3 and 5. Corey Crawford turned aside 20 shots as Chicago recorded its second 2-1 triumph over the Sabres in as many meetings this season.

Drew Stafford netted the lone goal for Buffalo, which had its three-game home winning streak snapped and suffered its third loss in four overall contests. Cory Conacher notched an assist in his Sabres debut and Jhonas Enroth finished with 29 saves.

Kane gave Chicago an early lead as he poked a loose puck around a defender on the right wing before gaining possession and cutting to the top of the slot, from where he unleashed a shot that sailed over Enroth's left shoulder 3:12 into the contest. Buffalo pulled even six minutes later, when Stafford backhanded the puck into a vacant net at the right post after Conacher's shot attempt went through the crease.

After a scoreless middle session, Toews put the Blackhawks ahead at 1:34 of the third. Andrew Shaw made a cross-slot pass from the right faceoff circle to Brandon Saad, who slid the puck back across the top of the crease to Toews for an easy shot from the right side that extended his goal-scoring streak to four games.
