Canucks 2, Flames 1: Defenseman Yannick Weber scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period as host Vancouver snapped a four-game winless streak.

Darren Archibald netted his first career goal to help the Canucks win for only the second time in their last 13 games (2-10-1). Eddie Lack made 22 saves as Vancouver beat Calgary for the sixth consecutive time.

Brian McGrattan scored the lone goal for the Flames, who had won three of their previous four contests. Rookie Joni Ortio, making his fourth career start, turned aside only 12 shots and had his modest two-game winning streak halted.

Each team got a goal from an unexpected source during the second period. McGrattan caught Lack sleeping and beat him with a slap shot just after crossing the red line at 2:13 for his second tally of the season and eighth in 291 career games.

Archibald, appearing in his 14th NHL contest, answered 3 1/2 minutes later as he corralled a puck along the end boards, skated in front and knocked in the rebound of his initial stuff attempt for his first point in eight games. Weber netted the winner at the five-minute mark of the third, burying a rebound after Shawn Matthias drove to the net and was denied by Ortio.
