Ducks 1, Blues 0: Jonas Hiller turned aside 18 shots for his 21st career shutout as host Anaheim completed a season sweep of St. Louis hours after the latter acquired goaltender Ryan Miller from Buffalo in a blockbuster deal.

Andrew Cogliano matched his career high by scoring his 18th goal early in the first period for the Ducks, who earned coach Bruce Boudreau his 300th NHL victory. Saku Koivu and defenseman Cam Fowler each notched an assist for the second straight contest.

Brian Elliott finished with 18 saves for the Blues, who also received Steve Ott from the Sabres for goaltender Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier, a 2015 first-round selection and a 2016 third-round pick.

After dropping a 1-0 decision to Vancouver on Wednesday, St. Louis' offensive struggles continued as it failed on all three power-play opportunities. Hiller preserved his fifth shutout of the season by stopping just four shots in the third period.

The Swiss netminder received all the offensive support he needed just 3:39 into the contest as Fowler forced a turnover and chipped the puck ahead to Koivu. Cogliano settled the lead pass from the veteran Finn and beat Elliott with a backhander between the pads on a breakaway.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The blockbuster deal forced the Blues to dress Jeff Tyni as Elliott's backup. Tyni is Anaheim's locker room attendant. ... Cogliano scored 18 goals in each of his first two seasons with Edmonton (2007-09). ... St. Louis RW Ryan Reaves nearly forged a 1-1 tie late in the second period, but his wrist shot caromed off both posts and straddled the goal line. ... Anaheim C Mathieu Perreault suffered an upper-body injury early in the third period and did not return.
