Avalanche 2, Devils 1 (OT): Ryan O'Reilly scored the game-winning goal 28 seconds into overtime after PA Pareanteau tied it in the final two minutes of regulation to lift visiting Colorado to its fourth consecutive victory.

With the Avalanche on the power play, Matt Duchene slid a pass into the slot that O'Reilly steered past Cory Schneider to help Colorado improve to 13-3-1 in its last 17 games. Jean-Sebastien Giguere halted a four-game losing streak, making 27 saves in his first start since Jan. 6.

It was the second straight gut-wrenching defeat for New Jersey, which allowed the tying goal with 11 seconds to play in a 3-2 overtime loss at Nashville on Friday night. Ryan Carter scored the lone goal and Schneider turned aside 23 shots as the Devils lost for the fifth time in six games (1-4-1) against the Avalanche.

Carter put the Devils on top with 1:35 left in the opening session, ripping a one-timer from the top of the left circle past Giguere. The Devils, who hit the post three times in the opening period, nearly doubled the lead four minutes into the third when Jaromir Jagr's shot went through the legs of Giguere but the puck skidded along the goal line and never crossed it.

Colorado coach Patrick Roy opted to pull Giguere for an extra skater with 2 1/2 minutes to play and it paid off when Parenteau deflected a right-point blast from Tyson Barrie with 1:47 to play, spoiling Schneider's bid for his fourth shutout of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Avalanche rookie C Nathan MacKinnon assisted on the game-winning tally to extend his point streak to five games. ... Jagr remains two goals shy of becoming the seventh player in history to score 700 and needs two assists to tie Hall-of-Famer Marcel Dionne (1,040) for ninth place on the all-time list. ... Avalanche C Paul Stastny (ankle) and LW Alex Tanguay (knee) each sat out their second straight game.
