Predators 3, Devils 2 (OT): David Legwand scored late in regulation to forge a tie and captain Shea Weber netted his second goal at 1:29 of overtime as host Nashville improved to 6-2-1 in its last nine games.

After Carter Hutton (24 saves) stopped Michael Ryder on a breakaway in the extra session, the Predators answered nine seconds later as Weber unleashed a shot from the inner edge of the left faceoff circle that sailed past Cory Schneider (30 saves). Weber's second goal was his 15th to lead all NHL defensemen.

Legwand knotted the contest with 11 seconds remaining in the third period as he one-timed a blast from deep in the right circle after Schneider stopped rookie defenseman Seth Jones' shot from the point.

Jaromir Jagr scored his 698th career goal to give New Jersey a 2-1 lead late in the second period and collected his 1,038th assist to move within two of Hall-of-Famer Marcel Dionne for ninth place in NHL history. Patrik Elias netted his fourth goal in as many contests and added an assist while Travis Zajac set up both tallies for the Devils, who have dropped three of four.

Nashville drew first blood 6:45 into the first period as Schneider struggled to handle the puck behind the net. Weber made him pay for the flub as his blast from above the right circle caromed off the crossbar and into the net. Elias answered exactly 13 minutes into the second as his wrist shot from the left circle glanced off Hutton's glove and into the net before Jagr put New Jersey ahead by wristing a shot from the right circle past the netminder with 1:01 remaining in the period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jagr has recorded four goals and 10 assists in his last 14 games. ... New Jersey D Anton Volchenkov exited the contest in the second period with an undisclosed injury.
