Devils 2, Stars 1 (OT): Patrik Elias scored a power-play goal 40 seconds into overtime as visiting New Jersey posted its second one-goal win over Dallas in the last three weeks.

Elias joined Travis Zajac with a tally and an assist while Dainius Zubrus also scored as the Devils overcame a last-minute tying goal in regulation to halt their two-game losing streak. Cory Schneider made 14 saves and Jaromir Jagr collected a pair of assists for New Jersey, which ended the Stars' stretch of eight straight games with a power-play tally.

Elias drew a tripping penalty on Dallas captain Jamie Benn 28 seconds into the extra session and capitalized 12 seconds later by knocking in the rebound of Zajac's deflection. Benn scored for the fourth straight game while Tyler Seguin notched the tying goal with 51.5 seconds to play in the third and added an assist for the Stars, who fell to 4-9-2 in January.

The Devils carried a 1-0 lead into the second period and doubled it during a power play midway through the session, when Zajac deflected Damien Brunner's straight-on blast past Kari Lehtonen (21 saves). Dallas responded 62 seconds later as Benn corralled the puck after a blocked shot and beat Schneider with a backhander at 10:52.

Dallas was less than a minute from defeat in regulation and pulled Lehtonen for an extra attacker when Seguin got the equalizer off a wild scramble in front, jamming the puck past Schneider. New Jersey dominated the opening period despite having to kill off a 5-on-3, and the pressure paid off when Jagr set up Zubrus for a one-timer from the right faceoff circle 10:59 into the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Benn has four goals and five assists during his five-game point streak. ... Zubrus, who suffered an apparent leg injury in the third period, halted a six-game goalless drought and scored for only the second time in 18 games. ... Seguin, who turns 22 on Friday, has three goals and five assists during his four-game point streak.
