Senators 5, Lightning 3: Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan each notched a goal and an assist as Ottawa defeated visiting Tampa Bay, which lost goalie Ben Bishop to an injury in the opening minutes.

Defensemen Marc Methot and Erik Karlsson scored in the first period, Zack Smith also tallied and captain Jason Spezza notched a pair of assists for the Senators. Craig Anderson turned aside 35 shots as Ottawa earned at least a point for the 12th time in its last 14 games (9-2-3).

Blue-liner Victor Hedman recorded a goal and an assist, Tyler Johnson and Alex Killorn also scored and Anders Lindback made 23 saves for the Lightning in relief of Bishop, who exited after just 1:49 of action. After diving out to try and knock the puck away at the right faceoff circle, Bishop was hit inadvertently on the back of the head by teammate Nikita Kucherov's skate.

Mika Zibanejad beat Bishop to the puck and fired it around the boards to Methot, who scored into a vacant net for a 1-0 lead. Karlsson made it 2-0 with 26 seconds left in the opening period as Spezza found him alone at the right post.

Killorn pulled the Lightning within a goal 3:10 into the second session, but Smith answered 3:15 later on a turnaround shot from the slot after a turnover behind the net. Ryan chipped the puck ahead to himself inside the Lightning blue line, worked toward the net and left it for Turris, who tallied with 1:20 left in the period for a 4-1 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Turris has scored eight goals in his last 10 games and Spezza has collected seven points in his last five contests. … Lightning captain Martin St. Louis registered his 600th career assist on Hedman’s goal in the third period. … Ottawa D Chris Phillips was scratched due to an undisclosed injury and Tampa Bay lost C Valtteri Filppula to a lower-body injury in the second period.
