Flames 5, Blackhawks 4 (OT): Defenseman TJ Brodie scored on a wraparound at the right post 2:26 into overtime as host Calgary extended its winning streak to a season-high three games.

Mikael Backlund registered his third career two-goal performance, Matt Stajan notched a tally and an assist and Lance Bouma also scored for the Flames, who improved to 3-0-0 on their five-game homestand. Lee Stempniak collected three assists and Karri Ramo stopped all nine shots he faced after replacing Reto Berra, who allowed four goals on 24 shots over two periods.

Marian Hossa scored two goals for the third time this season for the Blackhawks, who began their seven-game road trip with their fourth straight loss (0-2-2) and ninth in 13 contests (4-3-6). Patrick Kane and Ben Smith also tallied while Corey Crawford made 13 saves in relief of Antti Raanta, who surrendered four tallies on 15 shots.

Backlund opened the scoring 73 seconds into the contest and Kane forged a tie at 5:43 of the first period before Bouma's shot from the left faceoff circle hit Raanta and bounced in the crease before entering the net at 11:34 for a 2-1 Calgary lead. Hossa again knotted the contest with 3:25 left in the session, but the Flames converted a pair of odd-man rushes in the second to grab a 4-2 advantage.

Stajan backhanded David Jones' pass past Raanta during a 2-on-1 at 3:21 and Backlund buried the rebound of Stempniak's shot off a 3-on-1 while short-handed midway through the period, chasing Raanta. Smith's shot from above the slot glanced off Berra's glove and in less than three minutes later, and Hossa fired the rebound of defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson's blast into the net with 2:27 remaining for a short-handed tally and 4-4 tie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hossa's short-handed goal was the 29th of his career - the most among active players. It also was the sixth tally in as many games for the veteran, who is tied with four others for 20th on the all-time list for short-handed goals. ...
