Flyers 5, Red Wings 0: Scott Hartnell recorded two goals and an assist to back Steve Mason's 21st career shutout as host Philadelphia halted a four-game winless streak (0-3-1).

Captain Claude Giroux added a goal and two assists while Adam Hall and Sean Couturier also scored for the Flyers, who won their eighth straight home meeting with Detroit dating to Jan. 25, 1997. Mason, who surrendered 22 goals in his previous six starts, made 33 saves for his second shutout of the season.

Jonas Gustavsson turned aside 23 shots but surrendered at least four goals for the third time in his streak of four straight starts. The Red Wings, who are missing three of their top five scorers, were blanked for the third time in eight games.

Hartnell opened the scoring on the power play with 6:18 left in the first period, redirecting defenseman Kimmo Timonen's shot from the point. The Flyers doubled the lead at 8:08 of the second period, when Giroux led a rush up the right wing and slid a crossing pass to Hartnell, who buried it glove side for his first multi-goal performance since April 15.

Philadelphia extended the lead less than three minutes later as Hall corralled the rebound of rookie Michael Raffl's shot and floated a backhander past Gustavsson with 8:58 left in the period. Giroux ripped a shot that went in off Gustavsson's glove midway through the third to reach 50 points for the third time in his career before Couturier capped the scoring with 3:51 to play.

It marked the first game this season that Detroit was without the trio of Franzen, captain Henrik Zetterberg (back) and C Pavel Datsyuk (lower body). ... Timonen played less than 7 1/2 minutes before leaving with a lower-body injury suffered when blocking a shot.
