Avalanche 4, Stars 3: Alex Tanguay snapped a tie early in the third period and Semyon Varlamov made 41 saves as Colorado completed a 2-1-0 road trip.

Rookie Nathan MacKinnon, Jamie McGinn and Paul Stastny also scored for the Avalanche, who won four of the five meetings with the Stars this season. Max Talbot and captain Gabriel Landeskog each recorded two assists as Colorado was outshot 13-3 in the third period.

Tyler Seguin ended a 12-game drought with a pair of goals and also notched an assist for the Stars, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Captain Jamie Benn recorded a tally and an assist while Kari Lehtonen stopped 17 shots as Dallas fell to 3-1-0 on its five-game homestand.

MacKinnon gave Colorado a lead 1:40 into the contest with a backhander from the left side of the crease, and McGinn made it 2-0 with 4:03 remaining in the first by backhanding his own rebound past Lehtonen from the doorstep. Benn halved the deficit 90 seconds later with a shot from the left faceoff circle and Seguin completed a nifty tic-tac-toe passing play from below the left circle 1:02 into the second for a tying power-play goal.

The Avalanche regained the lead on Stastny's backhander during a man advantage with 2:03 left in the period, but Seguin forged another tie 16 seconds later by beating Varlamov from the right circle. Colorado went ahead for good at 4:13 of the third, when Tanguay's pass attempt from the left circle caromed off Dallas defenseman Sergei Gonchar's skate and past Lehtonen.
