Bruins 6, Islanders 3: Brad Marchand collected a goal and three assists and joined linemates Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron in extending their respective point streaks to six games as visiting Boston improved to 4-0-1 in its last five contests.

Bergeron and Smith each recorded one goal and one assist and captain Zdeno Chara also tallied for his 500th career point with a goal. Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson each scored and Chad Johnson turned aside 34 shots for the Bruins, who salvaged the regular-season series finale versus New York and moved past idle Tampa Bay into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division.

Kyle Okposo collected a goal and two assists to extend his point streak to six games and Michael Grabner scored and set up a tally for New York. Frans Nielsen added his career-high 18th goal for the Islanders, who saw their three-game winning streak versus Boston come to an end.

Soderberg seized a 4-3 lead for the Bruins with 33 seconds left in the second period after gaining a step on New York defenseman Thomas Hickey along the right-wing boards before cutting in and lifting a shot over Kevin Poulin (30 saves). Bergeron doubled the advantage 2:17 into the third after converting Marchand's centering feed in the slot while falling to the ice.

Boston claimed 2-1 lead at 4:50 of the second period as Marchand tapped home Bergeron's diagonal pass before Okposo set up Grabner for a one-timer 3 1/2 minutes later. Smith scored from the doorstep at 12:21 to regain the advantage for the Bruins before Okposo converted a two-on-none breakaway with Grabner nearly three minutes later.
