Sharks 1, Jets 0: Joe Pavelski continued his torrid pace with the lone goal of the game and Alex Stalock made 20 saves en route to his second straight shutout as host San Jose extended its winning streak to five games.

Defenseman Justin Braun notched an assist for the Sharks, who improved to 18-2-3 at home.

Stalock stopped 11 shots in the first period, four in the second and five in the third for the second blanking of his NHL career. The 26-year-old turned in a 24-save performance in shutting out Florida on Jan. 16.

Ondrej Pavelec finished with 31 saves for the Jets, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Winnipeg had won its first four games since Paul Maurice replaced the fired Claude Noel behind the bench.

Pavelski thought he snapped the scoreless deadlock with 5:52 remaining in the second period, when he fired a loose puck past Pavelec from the bottom of the slot. But the goal was waved off immediately as the referee ruled Sharks captain Joe Thornton did not attempt to avoid contact while falling into the goaltender.

The contest remained without a tally until 6:48 of the third as Pavelski extended his goal-scoring streak to four games.

Braun denied Olli Jokinen's clearing attempt at the right point and moved to the top of the slot before unleashing a backhander that Pavelec stopped. But the rebound popped into the air for Pavelski, who batted it in from the doorstep for his 12th goal in 11 contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pavelski's goal was his 28th of the season, leaving him three shy of his career high set in 2011-12. He joined LW Patrick Marleau as the only players in franchise history to record the winning goal in three consecutive games. ... Jets rookie C Mark Scheifele had a tough night in the faceoff circles, losing 12 of his 15 draws. ... Winnipeg RW Blake Wheeler had his four-game point streak halted.
