Predators 4, Stars 1: Defenseman Roman Josi recorded a goal and an assist for the second straight game as host Nashville extended Dallas' month-long struggles.
Nick Spaling, captain Shea Weber and Mike Fisher also scored for the Predators, who have won three of their last four contests. Eric Nystrom notched a pair of assists and Carter Hutton turned aside 35 shots.
Cody Eakin netted the lone goal for the Stars, who fell to 1-8-1 in January. Kari Lehtonen finished with 19 saves as Dallas scored fewer than three goals for the seventh time in nine contests.
After Eakin buried a one-timer during a power play 4:45 into the game to give Dallas the lead, Spaling began Nashville's run of four unanswered goals by knocking a loose puck in the low slot past Lehtonen at 11:35. Weber put the Predators ahead for good with 2:44 remaining, beating the goaltender with a wrist shot from the top of the slot.
Josi, who extended his point streak to four games with an assist on Spaling's goal, made it 3-0 with 32 seconds left in the middle period on a shot from the left faceoff circle. Fisher capped the scoring 3:46 into the third, accepting a back pass from Colin Wilson and firing the puck past Lehtonen from the slot.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Weber leads all NHL defensemen with 13 goals. ... Dallas C Tyler Seguin, who leads the team with 21 goals and 45 points, has gone nine games without a tally. ... Predators C David Legwand notched an assist to stay one point ahead of Weber (34) for the team lead. ... Stars rookie RW Valeri Nichushkin was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game.
