Avalanche 5, Predators 4: Defenseman Nick Holden doubled his career goals total with two and added an assist as visiting Colorado extended its winning streak to four games and spoiled Devan Dubnyk's debut with Nashville.

Blue-liner Jan Hejda, captain Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene also scored for the Avalanche, who have earned at least one point in six straight contests (5-0-1). John Mitchell, Paul Stastny and rookie Nathan MacKinnon each recorded two assists while Semyon Varlamov (11-0-5) stopped 27 shots in matching Peter Budaj's franchise record of 16 consecutive games without a regulation loss.

Defensemen Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi each recorded a goal and an assist while Patric Hornqvist and Craig Smith also tallied for the Predators, who had won two in a row. Dubnyk allowed three goals in the first period and finished with 24 saves in his first appearance for Nashville since being acquired from Edmonton on Wednesday.

Holden began his career-best performance by beating Dubnyk from low in the left faceoff circle at 6:21 of the opening period. After Hornqvist cashed in during a 5-on-3 advantage in the middle session to get Nashville on the board, the 26-year-old Holden completed his two-goal effort with a blast from the right point 2:31 into the third and notched an assist on Duchene's sharp-angle power-play goal four minutes later.

Hejda made it 2-0 midway through the first with a slap shot from above the right circle and Landeskog whipped the puck past Dubnyk from the right circle 38 seconds later for his 14th of the season. Smith and Ellis tallied midway through the third and Josi buried a long shot with 2:57 remaining, but the Predators were unable to get the equalizer.
