Stars 3, Kings 2: Erik Cole recorded his second two-goal performance in three contests and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 23 shots as host Dallas improved to 5-0-2 in its last seven games.

Tyler Seguin netted his team-leading 20th goal and added an assist while Alex Chiasson set up a pair of tallies for the Stars, who posted a 5-2 victory over the Kings on Dec. 23.

Jeff Carter scored a power-play goal and set up Anze Kopitar's tally for the Kings, who have dropped four straight for the first time since Feb. 16-22, 2012.

Seguin gave Dallas a 2-1 lead at 12:13 of the second period, reeling in a shot off the end boards and sending a sharp-angle bid off the extended left pad of Ben Scrivens (29 saves) and into the net. Cole netted his 10th goal of the season and second of the night over three minutes later as he converted Rich Peverley's brilliant feed from the lower edge of the left faceoff circle.

Kopitar trimmed the deficit with a shot from the left circle at 1:05 of the third period, but Lehtonen held the fort as Dallas earned at least one point for the ninth time in 10 home games (6-1-3).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Captain Jamie Benn (one assist) and Seguin have clobbered the Kings in the three meetings this season. Benn scored a goal and set up five others while Seguin has recorded three tallies and three assists. ... Los Angeles converted a 4-on-3 power-play opportunity at 12:23 of the first period to draw first blood as Carter tipped in C Mike Richards' shot from the point. Dallas answered 3:35 later as Cole buried the rebound after Seguin's blast from the left circle was denied. ... Seguin also scored on New Year's Eve 2012 at American Airlines Center - albeit while with Boston.
