Islanders 5, Wild 4: Kyle Okposo celebrated his return home by scoring twice to snap a pair of ties late in the third period as visiting New York overcame a three-goal deficit to stun Minnesota.

Defenseman Thomas Hickey recorded a goal and two assists while captain John Tavares tallied in his return from a one-game absence due to a lower-body injury. Former Wild right wing Cal Clutterbuck also scored, Okposo added an assist and Kevin Poulin made 33 saves for the Islanders, who have won three of five after posting a 1-9-4 mark in their previous 14 contests.

Nino Niederreiter collected a goal and an assist against his former team for the Wild, who have dropped five in a row overall and saw their four-game home winning streak come to an end. Justin Fontaine scored, Ryan Suter netted his first goal of the season and fellow defenseman Jonas Brodin also tallied.

A native of St. Paul, Minn., Okposo gave New York a 4-3 lead at 12:13 of the third period with a blast from along the boards just outside the right faceoff circle. Fontaine answered by cleaning up a rebound, but Okposo responded 27 seconds later by stuffing a loose puck past Josh Harding (26 saves), who was making his return following a change in medication for multiple sclerosis.

Niederreiter scored from the slot at 2:59 of the second period to give Minnesota its first 3-0 lead since Nov. 5. New York chipped away as Tavares stuffed home a loose puck at 8:45 and Clutterbuck deflected Hickey's shot with 62 seconds left in the session. Hickey forged a tie by tipping Colin McDonald's centering feed past Harding at 6:30 of the third.
