Coyotes 4, Senators 3 (OT): Antoine Vermette burned his former team by capping his second career hat trick 2:23 into overtime as Phoenix posted its first win in Canada's capital in 15 years.

After Mike Smith (37 saves) denied Clarke MacArthur with a brilliant right pad save earlier in overtime, defenseman Derek Morris' point shot was stopped by Craig Anderson. Vermette, who was drafted by Ottawa in 2000, alertly jumped on the rebound and slid the puck between the pads of Anderson (34 saves) to end the game.

Vermette forged a 3-3 tie with 2:13 remaining in the third period, converting David Moss' backhanded cross-slot feed. Radim Vrbata also tallied and Mikkel Boedker notched two assists for the Coyotes, who avenged a 4-3 loss to Ottawa on Oct. 15.

Defenseman Marc Methot collected a goal and an assist while Zack Smith and Kyle Turris also tallied for the Senators, who have dropped four of their last five overall and eight of 11 home games (3-6-2)

Stationed below the end line, Methot gave Ottawa a 3-2 lead with 5:09 remaining in the second period as he elected to skate out front before beating Mike Smith for his fourth tally of the season.
