Avalanche 6, Stars 2: Paul Stastny ended a nine-game drought with a pair of goals and added two assists as host Colorado began the home-and-home series with its third win in three meetings with Dallas this season.

Rookie Nathan MacKinnon and defensemen Andre Benoit, Erik Johnson and Tyson Barrie also scored for the Avalanche, who will look to extend their point streak to four games at Dallas on Tuesday. PA Parenteau collected three assists and Semyon Varlamov made 31 saves.

Tyler Seguin recorded a goal and an assist while defenseman Kevin Connauton added his first career tally for Dallas, which completed a 1-2-0 road trip. Kari Lehtonen turned aside 42 shots for the Stars, who have scored only two goals in each meeting with the Avalanche.

MacKinnon opened the scoring midway through the first period, taking a drop pass from Matt Duchene and firing the puck into the top right corner of the net from the left faceoff dot. Connauton converted a feed from Seguin during a power play with 33 seconds remaining in the session to forge a tie, but Stastny began Colorado's huge second period by tipping in a pass by Maxime Talbot at 8:29.

Benoit beat Lehtonen from the top of the left circle at 13:42 and Stastny made it 4-1 less than three minutes later as he tipped captain Gabriel Landeskog's one-timer from the blue line past the netminder. Johnson capped the outburst with three seconds left in the session, drilling a shot from just above the right circle past Lehtonen, and Barrie netted his first goal of the season with 4:44 to play in the third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The two-goal performance was Stastny's second of the season. He also scored twice against the Stars on Nov. 1. ...
