Predators 4, Rangers 1: Fourth-liner Richard Clune collected a goal and assist for his first points of the season and Carter Hutton made 28 saves in his first start in exactly one month as visiting Nashville snapped a five-game winless skid (0-4-1).

Paul Gaustad had an empty-net goal and two assists to double his season point total. Fellow fourth-liner Matt Hendricks scored a goal and set up another and Nick Spaling also tallied for the Predators, who avenged a 2-0 home setback to New York on Nov. 23.

Rick Nash scored for his 600th career point and Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 22 shots for the Rangers, who have dropped three straight (0-2-1) to begin their franchise-high nine-game homestand and nine of 14 at home this season (5-8-1). To add injury to insult, captain Ryan Callahan suffered a knee sprain midway through the first period and did not return.

After Spaling's one-timer from the slot opened the scoring 6:15 into the first period, Clune doubled the advantage just over four minutes later. Clune accepted a saucer pass from Hendricks and fended off New York's Dominic Moore before backhanding the puck past Lundqvist.

Nash trimmed the deficit 6:38 into the second period after reeling in Brad Richards' pass before using his long reach to tuck the puck past the extended pad of Hutton. Hendricks regained the two-goal edge 2:38 into the third after converting a centering feed from Gaustad.

GAME NOTEBOOK: With his team trailing 2-1, New York C Derick Brassard hit the right post in the final two minutes of the second period. ... Callahan was injured after checking Nashville D Victor Bartley near the boards, but got his legs tangled up in the process. ... The Predators failed on their two power-play opportunities and fell to 0-for-16 in their last six games.
