Flyers 2, Jets 1: Sean Couturier scored a short-handed goal early in the second period and Steve Mason turned aside 25 shots as Philadelphia skated to its fifth straight victory at home.

Scott Hartnell also scored 48 seconds into the contest as the Flyers avenged a 3-2 shootout loss to Winnipeg on Nov. 15 and improved to 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

Michael Frolik converted a goal-mouth scramble to trim the Jets' deficit to 2-1 with 7:07 remaining in the third period and denied Mason's bid for his 21st career shutout. Mason prevented the equalizer to improve to 3-0-1 in his career versus Winnipeg.

Philadelphia opened the scoring after Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien tapped the puck away from Steve Downie from in front, but Hartnell alertly fired it home for his fifth goal of the season - and second against Winnipeg.

After being denied on his first short-handed breakaway bid, Couturier doubled the scoring 5:36 into the second. Couturier deflected a pass along his own blue line before settling the puck in the offensive end and backhanding it between the pads of Ondrej Pavelec (32 saves) for his second goal of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Winnipeg LW Evander Kane suffered a lower-body injury during the first period. Kane returned to start the second, but exited after one shift and sat out the rest of the game. ... The Flyers failed to score a power-play goal for the first time in nine contests, but thwarted six short-handed situations. ... C Mark Scheifele notched an assist to extend his point streak to four contests for the Jets, who saw their two-game winning streak come to an end and fell to 5-2-1 against the Eastern Conference.
