Jets 3, Devils 1: Mark Scheifele and Evander Kane ended lengthy goal-scoring droughts as visiting Winnipeg won for the first time in five games (1-2-2).

Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 25 shots and Devin Setoguchi added an empty-net tally as the Jets beat New Jersey for the second time in as many meetings this season. Scheifele notched his first goal in 25 contests and Kane ended an 11-game drought in the opener of a six-game road trip.

Patrik Elias scored for the second straight game and Martin Brodeur made 19 saves for the Devils, who dropped their second in a row following a three-game winning streak.

Scheifele, whose first goal came in the season opener, finally doubled his total when he accepted a cross-ice feed from Michael Frolik and whistled a high shot past the glove of Brodeur from the inside edge of the right circle with 3:59 left in the first period. Kane appeared to extend the lead just over seven minutes into the second but it was immediately waved off and a video review confirmed the puck did not cross the line.

It turned out to be a brief respite for the Devils, as Kane scored off the faceoff two seconds later from the top of the left circle, beating Brodeur short side. New Jersey finally dented Pavelec midway through the third period when Elias deflected defenseman Andy Greene's shot from the left point to get within a goal, but Setoguchi scored with 27.1 seconds left to ice it.
