Jets 5, Sharks 4 (SO): Captain Andrew Ladd forged a tie with 1:43 remaining in the third period and scored the lone goal of the shootout as host Winnipeg extended San Jose's winless streak to five games.

After knotting the contest with a one-timer from the left faceoff circle, Ladd lifted the puck over the glove of Antti Niemi to open the third round of the bonus format and give the Jets the edge. Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle, who scored two power-play goals in regulation, was unable to stuff the puck past the right pad of Ondrej Pavelec on the ensuing attempt, ending the contest.

Grant Clitsome recorded a goal and two assists while fellow blue-liner Dustin Byfuglien and Michael Frolik also scored for Winnipeg, which went 0-for-2 on the power play and is 1-for-44 with the man advantage over its last 14 games. Ladd added an assist, Bryan Little notched two and Pavelec made 30 saves.

Rookie Tomas Hertl scored a goal and set up another while Tommy Wingels also tallied for the Sharks, who are 0-1-4 during their slide. Niemi made 42 saves but has allowed 18 goals in his last five contests.

The Sharks took a 2-0 lead as Boyle and Hertl scored 1:16 apart late in the first period. Boyle beat a screened Pavelec during a power play with a one-timer from the top of the slot at 14:04 and Hertl slid the puck under the goaltender during a breakaway.

Frolik converted a feed from Matt Halischuk during a 2-on-1 down low at 6:12 of the second to get Winnipeg on the board. But Wingels restored the two-goal advantage 41 seconds later, racing in to get a loose puck at the top of the right faceoff circle and firing it under the crossbar.

The Jets stormed back to forge a tie before the second intermission on goals by Byfuglien and Clitsome, but Boyle put San Jose back in front at 3:59 of the third by knocking in Logan Couture's no-look backhand pass across the top of the crease from the right side.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Byfuglien originally was credited with his first goal of the season in Friday's victory over Nashville, but the tally was changed to LW Eric Tangradi after the contest. ... Boyle, teammate Jason Demers and current GM Doug Wilson are the only defensemen in Sharks history to score two power-play goals in a game. ... San Jose captain Joe Thornton notched his 802nd career assist, putting him 10 behind Pierre Turgeon for 29th place on the all-time list.
