Blackhawks 5, Jets 1: Brandon Bollig and Patrick Sharp scored nearly two minutes apart to ignite a three-goal second period as Chicago celebrated captain Jonathan Toews' return to Winnipeg by skating to its third consecutive victory.

Nick Leddy matched Bollig with a goal and an assist and fellow defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson and Ben Smith also tallied as the Blackhawks won their fifth straight contest against the Winnipeg franchise. Marcus Kruger set up a pair of scores and Corey Crawford turned aside 26 shots in the victory.

After defenseman Tobias Enstrom and Hjalmarsson traded goals on point shots in the first period, Bollig pushed Chicago ahead just 54 ticks into the second with a wrist shot over the blocker of Ondrej Pavelec (10 saves).

Sharp, who was born in Winnipeg before moving at a young age to Thunder Bay, Ont., doubled the advantage 1:47 later after making a nifty move on a breakaway. Leddy gave the Blackhawks a 4-1 lead just over three minutes later by using Bryan Bickell as a screen before his shot from the point beat Pavelec, who was replaced by Chicago native Al Montoya (10 saves).

Smith deflected in Bollig's shot midway through the third period as Chicago recorded at least five goals in three consecutive outings and four of its last five. The Jets are spiraling in the other direction with six losses in seven games (1-4-2).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toews, who was denied by Montoya from point-blank range midway through the second period, saw his five-game point streak come to an end. He was playing in his first regular-season contest in his hometown since the NHL returned to Winnipeg in 2011. ... Chicago went 0-for-2 on the power play, marking the first time it failed to score with the man advantage in seven games. ... The MTS Centre faithful gave Blackhawks G Nikolai Khabibulin a warm ovation during a late stoppage in the first period. Khabibulin was drafted by the Jets in 1992 and spent his first five seasons with the franchise.
