Michael Bournival and captain Brian Gionta each collected a goal and an assist while Rene Bourque also scored. Carey Price turned aside 31 shots for the Canadiens, who snapped a two-game losing streak with their first home victory over the Ducks since Oct. 9, 2001.

Patrick Maroon scored 8:58 into the third period to spoil Price's bid for his second shutout of the season and 21st career. Jonas Hiller finished with 21 saves for the Ducks, who have dropped two in a row following a seven-game winning streak.

Montreal opened the scoring with 8:21 remaining in the first period as Bournival redirected defenseman Nathan Beaulieu's point shot past Hiller just as a power play expired. Plekanec doubled the advantage nearly five minutes later and matched Lars Eller for the team lead in goals (five) as his one-timer from the edge of the right faceoff circle beat Hiller.

With his team on a 5-on-3 advantage, Gionta poked home a rebound on the doorstep at 11:49 of the third period to give the Canadiens a 3-0 lead.
