Blackhawks 2, Red Wings 1 (OT): Defenseman Brent Seabrook scored 3:35 into overtime after top-seeded Chicago had the tiebreaking goal waved off late in the third period, sending the Blackhawks to a Game 7 victory in their Western Conference second-round series against visiting Detroit.

The Red Wings received a reprieve when Blackhawks blue-liner Niklas Hjalmarsson's apparent goal with 1:47 remaining in regulation was waved off due to penalties called in the neutral zone. Chicago would not be denied as Seabrook picked up a loose puck at center ice and skated down the slot before unleashing a wrist shot that deflected off Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall's stick and past Jimmy Howard.

Patrick Sharp also scored and Corey Crawford made 26 saves for the Presidents' Trophy-winning Blackhawks, who will host Game 1 of the conference final against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Captain Henrik Zetterberg tallied and Howard turned aside 33 shots for seventh-seeded Detroit, which lost center Valtteri Filppula to a lower-body injury less than four minutes into the game. The Red Wings were unable to close the door after taking a 3-1 lead in the series.

After a scoreless first period, Chicago took the lead 68 seconds into the second on a nifty tic-tac-toe passing play. Michal Handzus dished the puck to Marian Hossa, who slid a cross-crease pass from the left side to Sharp for an easy tap-in. The goal was the seventh of the postseason for Sharp, tying him with Pittsburgh teammates Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis for the league lead.

Detroit pulled even 26 seconds into the third. Gustav Nyquist chased down a dump-in by Dan Cleary along the right-wing boards and lifted the puck over a sliding defenseman to Zetterberg, who fired it into a vacant net from the doorstep for his fourth playoff tally and first of the series.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This was the 37th Game 7 to be decided in overtime. Chicago was the 19th home team to emerge victorious. Detroit had not gone to overtime in a seventh game since 1996 against St. Louis, while it was Chicago's first since losing in 2011 versus Vancouver. ... Hjalmarsson beat Howard with a blast from the left faceoff circle just as referee Stephen Walkom called coincidental roughing minors on Red Wings D Kyle Quincey and Blackhawks LW Brandon Saad in front of Detroit's bench, wiping out the goal. ... Filppula's injury occurred as he was heading to the bench after his second shift of the night. After being shoved backward by Chicago RW Andrew Shaw, the 29-year-old Finn limped to the locker room and reportedly was seen on crutches later in the evening. Filppula, who played a total of 1 minute, 28 seconds, recorded two goals and four assists in 12 games this postseason. ... Joel Quenneville improved to 1-5 in his coaching career against Detroit in the playoffs.
