Predators 3, Oilers 2: Sergei Kostitsyn snapped a 14-game goal-scoring drought and added an assist as host Nashville won its third consecutive game.

Kostitsyn scored midway through the first period and set up defenseman Kevin Klein in the second. Chris Mueller added a goal and Pekka Rinne made 24 saves for the Predators, who close out their four-game homestand on Thursday against Phoenix.

Taylor Hall opened the scoring on the power play and Devan Dubnyk stopped 23 shots for Edmonton, which is winless in four games (0-3-1). Captain Shawn Horcoff pulled the Oilers within one as Edmonton outshot Nashville 12-4 in the third period.

Kostitsyn waited for Klein to pinch down into the slot before finding the blue-liner for an easy goal that gave the Predators a 2-1 edge 4:31 into the second period. Mueller extended the lead seven minutes later with his second career goal as he slipped behind the defense to receive Brandon Yip’s pass and fired a wrist shot over Dubnyk’s glove.

Defenseman Corey Potter’s point shot at 7:53 of the first period was tipped past a screened Rinne by Hall for a 1-0 Edmonton lead. Kostitsyn one-timed a feed from Mike Fisher at the edge of the crease to knot the contest with 8:09 remaining in the first.
