Penguins 6, Islanders 1: Chris Kunitz recorded his fourth career hat trick - and second this season - by collecting three goals and two assists and captain Sidney Crosby matched a personal best with five assists as host Pittsburgh breezed to its fifth straight victory.

Pascal Dupuis scored twice and James Neal had a goal and two assists in the onslaught. Tomas Vokoun turned aside 23 shots for the Penguins, who have outscored their opponents 27-18 during the winning streak.

After Dupuis opened the scoring with a sharp-angle shot along the goal line, Neal set up Kunitz for a pair of goals nearly three minutes apart in the first period. Kunitz redirected Neal's centering feed on a power play with 6:14 remaining before his tap-in gave the Penguins a 3-0 lead.

Brad Boyes took advantage of a turnover to put the Islanders on the scoreboard at 8:07 of the second period, but Kunitz completed his hat trick after cleaning up a rebound from defenseman Kris Letang's shot.

Kunitz, who scored four goals in Pittsburgh's 6-3 win over Washington on Feb. 3, has 11 in his last nine games. He is tied with Neal and Los Angeles' Jeff Carter with 17 goals, sitting two behind Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos for the NHL lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York G Evgeni Nabokov yielded five goals on 17 shots before being relieved by G Kevin Poulin to start the third period. Poulin finished with 10 saves. ... Crosby also had five assists against Philadelphia on Dec. 13, 2006. ... Reigning Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin missed the contest after suffering an upper-body injury in Pittsburgh's 5-4 win over Toronto on Saturday.
