Avalanche 6, Blackhawks 2:
Matt Duchene scored the go-ahead goal and recorded three assists as host Colorado ended Chicago's 30-game point streak.

PA Parenteau and Paul Stastny each collected a goal and two assists, Ryan O’Reilly had one of each and John Mitchell and Jamie McGinn also scored for the Avalanche, who took the back end of the home-and-home series after falling at Chicago on Wednesday. Colorado improved to 7-2-1 at home as Semyon Varlamov made 31 saves.

Captain Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell each had a goal as Chicago had its season-opening point streak halted at an NHL-record 24 games and its franchise-record 11-game winning streak come to an end. Dating back to last season, the Blackhawks notched a point in 30 straight contests, falling five games shy of matching the record set by the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers.

Toews finished off a give-and-go with Marian Hossa to give Chicago a 1-0 lead at 5:44 of the first, but Stastny’s power-play tally tied it up with 3:24 left in the period. Duchene put the Avalanche ahead for good at 4:16 of the second, when he banged a back-handed shot off the near post and past Corey Crawford.

Mitchell received a back-handed feed from O’Reilly and buried a wrist shot from the slot 33 seconds later, and O’Reilly blasted a one-timer off a pass from Duchene during a power play midway through the session to make it 4-1. Duchene recorded another assist on a hustle play with 6:02 left in the second, beating the defense to the puck behind the net and flipping it to McGinn for the tally that capped the four-goal period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Parenteau’s assist on Stastny’s goal was the 100th of his career. … Avalanche D Erik Johnson (concussion) played for the first time since Feb. 11 and assisted on Duchene’s goal. Johnson was plus-4 in 19:04 of ice time. … Crawford was lifted after two periods and replaced by Ray Emery, who made 11 saves. Crawford stopped 14 of the 19 shots he faced. … Chicago C Patrick Sharp (upper body) missed the game and will be out 3-4 weeks.
