Blackhawks 4, Canucks 3 (SO): Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw scored in the shootout and host Chicago recovered from blowing a late two-goal lead to tie the NHL record for most consecutive games with a point to start a season.

Marian Hossa scored twice in a three-goal second period before leaving with an injury as the Blackhawks improved to 13-0-3, matching the record 16-game point streak to open a campaign set by the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks. Chicago can claim sole possession of the record when it hosts San Jose on Friday.

Patrick Sharp scored for the second straight game and Ray Emery made 29 saves before denying Ryan Kesler on the final shootout attempt as Chicago avenged a 2-1 shootout loss at Vancouver on Feb. 1. Cory Schneider made 40 saves for the Canucks.

Hossa's two goals in a span of 3 minutes, 27 seconds in the second period gave Chicago a 3-1 lead, but he was not on the bench to celebrate the win after taking a hard hit from behind by Jannik Hansen in the third that sent him to the locker room.

Daniel Sedin scored the lone first-period goal for Vancouver, which stunned the home crowd with tallies by defensemen Alex Edler and Kevin Bieksa in the final 2:42 of regulation - the tying goal coming with only 61 seconds to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hansen received a minor penalty for roughing after the hit on Hossa, whose 2011-12 season ended in Game 3 of a playoff series versus Phoenix when he was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a vicious hit from Raffi Torres. ... Kane's shootout goal initially was waved off before replay officials determined the puck was pushed across the goal line by Schneider's glove and not Kane's skate. ... Canucks LW David Booth, who suffered a groin injury on the first day of training camp, assisted on Edler's goal in his season debut for Vancouver, which is 3-1-3 in its last seven regular-season games in Chicago.
