Flyers 7, Islanders 0: Captain Claude Giroux and Daniel Briere recorded two goals and an assist apiece and Jakub Voracek added a career-high four assists as Philadelphia handed New York its worst shutout loss at home in franchise history.

Playing in his 400th NHL game, Ilya Bryzgalov made 19 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and 30th career. Matt Read chipped in with a goal and two assists and Brayden Schenn added a goal and a helper for the Flyers.

Evgeni Nabokov, who yielded all seven tallies on 25 shots, also surrendered a goal to Zac Rinado. Nabokov had stopped 66 of 70 shots in winning the last two games for New York.

Read’s pass caromed off Islanders defenseman Andrew MacDonald directly to a wide-open Giroux, who moved in alone to beat Nabokov 26 seconds into the contest. New York had a big chance to equalize later in the period with two full minutes of a 5-on-3 advantage, but managed only one shot on goal.

The Flyers took control in the second with three goals, starting with Read’s team-leading seventh only 15 seconds in on a rebound. Schenn was open in the slot to knock home Voracek’s feed on the power play at 7:57 and Giroux made it 4-0 with 5:15 remaining, slipping the puck around a fallen Nabokov at the left post.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Voracek became the first Flyers player to notch four assists in a game since Mark Recchi in 1992. … Islanders C John Tavares had his five-game goal-scoring streak snapped. … Philadelphia killed all five New York power plays, improving to 38-for-40 in February.
