Flyers 3, Jets 2: Rookie Tye McGinn scored his second goal in as many games as visiting Philadelphia snapped a four-game road losing streak.
Brayden Schenn opened the scoring and defenseman Kimmo Timonen added a power-play goal for the Flyers, who lost 5-2 in Toronto on Monday to start a six-game road trip. Ilya Bryzgalov made 24 saves.
Captain Andrew Ladd scored twice for Winnipeg, which started Al Montoya in goal after he earned a shutout against Ottawa on Saturday. Montoya allowed two goals on 12 shots before exiting after the second period with a lower-body injury. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 10 of 11 shots in the third.
Schenn scored eight minutes into the first period by tipping Jakub Voracek’s centering pass over Montoya. Voracek also assisted on McGinn’s winning goal at 4:17 of the third period when he snapped the puck toward the goal and it deflected of McGinn’s skate.
Ladd scored with 5:48 remaining in the first period and pulled the Jets within one goal with 47 seconds remaining in the third, but Winnipeg couldn’t net a tying goal. Blake Wheeler assisted on both of Ladd’s goals.
GAME NOTEBOOK: McGinn fought Jets D Mark Stuart in the second period. … Winnipeg D Dustin Byfuglien returned to the lineup after missing five games with a lower-body injury. Byfuglien finished with three blocked shots. … Voracek leads the Flyers with 10 points this season.
