RED WINGS 5, HURRICANES 4: Drew Miller scored the game winner midway through the third period as host Detroit scored four unanswered goals to stun Carolina and halt a six-game winless skid.

With the Red Wings trailing 4-3 through 40 minutes, Jiri Hudler drew Detroit even 8:10 into the third after Brad Stuart's initial shot deflected off his skate and past Carolina netminder Cam Ward. Miller then gave the Red Wings their first lead, backhanding a shot that eluded Ward for his 14th goal.

Detroit held on from there to maintain its grip on fourth place in the Western Conference with its first victory since March 9.

Henrik Zetterberg scored twice and Todd Bertuzzi added a goal for the Red Wings. Hudler finished with a goal and two assists.

Jiri Tlusty scored twice while Chad LaRose and Jamie McBain also tallied for Carolina, which sits on the brink of being eliminated from postseason contention. The Hurricanes are seven points back of eighth place in the East with just six games remaining.
