HURRICANES 5, WILD 3:

Brandon Sutter and Tim Brent scored 48 seconds apart in the third period to give goaltender Brian Boucher his first win of the season,

Boucher, making his first start since suffering a lower-body injury on Dec. 5, turned aside 23 shots to improve to 1-4-1. Chad LaRose added an empty-netter for his fifth goal in seven games.

Kyle Brodziak had his first three-point game of the season with two goals and an assist for Minnesota, which tumbled to its eighth defeat in nine games.

After Bowman and Brodziak traded first-period goals, Nick Johnson and Erik Christensen scored less than three minutes apart to give the Wild a 3-1 lead with 4:36 left in the second period.

Bowman cut the deficit in half with his second tally less than two minutes later, when his pass in front bounced off Minnesota's Devin Setoguchi and past Matt Hackett.

Sutter deadlocked the game at 7:16 of the third on a 4-on-4 when Bowman's pass sprung him on a breakaway to complete a Gordie Howe hat trick.

Brent put the Hurricanes ahead 48 seconds later, beating Hackett on a screened shot from the right point.
