Cody McLeod, Peter Mueller and rookie Gabriel Landeskog scored and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 24 saves as the Colorado Avalanche skated to a 3-1 road victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
With the Avalanche leading 2-1, the Kings were pressuring late in the third period for the equalizer. A high-sticking penalty with less than four minutes to play, however, put an end to that. Landeskog added the insurance goal to solidify the win.
Mueller tipped T.J. Galiardi's shot past All-Star Jonathan Quick to give Colorado the 2-1 advantage with 1:05 remaining in the second period.
Paul Stastny and Kyle Quincey had two assists apiece for the Avalanche.
Anze Kopitar scored the lone goal for Los Angeles when he slipped a rebound past Giguere at 5:26 in the second period.
The Kings have scored only four goals in regulation in their last four games.
