Adam Henrique scored the winner in the fourth round of the shootout as the New Jersey Devils shaded the visiting Ottawa Senators 4-3 Thursday night.

The teams traded goals in the second round of the sudden death format before Patrik Elias put New Jersey in front with a high wrist shot that beat Alex Auld on the glove side.

Captain Daniel Alfredsson kept the Senators alive with a shot that eluded Johan Hedberg between the pads.

Henrique followed with a deft backhand that gave the Devils the lead, and Hedberg stopped rookie David Rundblad as New Jersey won its second straight following a four-game losing skid.

The Devils had rallied from a three-goal deficit to take a 4-3 lead before the Senators struck with 3.5 seconds left in regulation. An Alfredsson shot from the point didn't make it to the net, but Jesse Winchester gathered the loose puck and deked out Hedberg before sliding it into the open net.

Milan Michalek netted his NHL league-leading 18th goal while Nick Foligno and Alfredsson also scored for the Senators.

Mattias Tedenby, Dainius Zubrus, captain Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk scored in regulation for the Devils. New Jersey starting netminder Martin Brodeur was pulled after allowing two first-period goals, the second time in three games the future Hall of Famer has been yanked.
