Nik Antropov scored the only goal midway through the third period and Chris Mason withstood a 43-shot barrage as the visiting Atlanta Thrashers blanked the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 on Thursday night.

Mason registered his first shutout of the season to help the Thrashers (33-32-12) send the Flyers (46-21-10) to their fifth consecutive home defeat.

The loss cuts Philadelphia's lead in the Eastern Conference to just one point over the Washington Capitals, although the Flyers have a game in hand.

Antropov's winning tally came on a deflection off a pass from Evander Kane as Atlanta kept its faint playoff hopes alive by beating the Flyers for the third time since March 12 and seventh time in the last eight meetings.

Rookie Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves for Philadelphia, which outshot the Thrashers 43-22 but also failed to score on five power-play chances.
