Patrik Elias scored after a turnover early in the third period to break a tie and lead the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
Captain Jamie Langenbrunner also tallied and Martin Brodeur made 27 saves for the Devils, who halted a three-game losing streak in winning for just the third time this season. All three victories have come on the road.
Rookie Alexander Vasyunov intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and skated over the blue line before dishing the puck to Elias, who one-timed it past an unsuspecting Jonas Hiller at 1:54 for his second goal of the campaign.
After a scoreless first period, Jason Blake gave Anaheim the lead just over eight minutes into the second. During a power play, Blake buried his own rebound at 8:07 after Martin Brodeur denied his initial stuff attempt near the right goalpost.
Langenbrunner knotted the contest 2 1/2 minutes later with his first goal of the season, skating around the net and beating Hiller with a bad-angle shot from the left side.
Hiller turned aside 25 shots for the Ducks, who suffered their first regulation loss at home (2-1-1).
