Marian Hossa snapped a tie late in the second period and scored again early in the third as the Chicago Blackhawks recorded their first victory of the season with a 4-3 triumph over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
Patrick Kane netted a power-play goal and rookie defenseman Nick Leddy collected his first career NHL tally as Chicago (1-1-1) rallied from a two-goal deficit to pick up the win.
Corey Crawford turned aside 32 shots in his first start of the season for the Blackhawks, who killed off all five power plays in this one.
Tim Connolly scored 5:24 into the third period to cut Buffalo's deficit to one at 4-3, but the Sabres couldn't net the equalizer.
Drew Stafford scored 14 seconds into the contest and assisted on Derek Roy's fourth goal of the season just 2 1/2 minutes later for Buffalo (1-2-0), which dropped its second game in a row.
Ryan Miller finished with 26 saves for the Sabres, who saw right wing Jason Pominville carted off on a stretcher after a hit from behind by defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson in the first period. The Swede was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
