Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a go-ahead, short-handed goal in the second period, Anthony Duclair scored twice and the host Ottawa Senators snapped a four-game losing streak by topping the reeling Detroit Red Wings 5-2 on Wednesday.

Chris Tierney and Mark Borowiecki also scored for the Senators in their second victory of the season. Thomas Chabot contributed a pair of assists, while Anders Nilsson made 34 saves for Ottawa. The Senators equaled the total amount of goals they scored during their slide.

Darren Helm and Tyler Bertuzzi scored for Detroit, which has lost six straight, all in regulation and by a combined margin of 27-9. Jonathan Bernier stopped 33 shots for the Wings, who haven't scored more than two goals in a game throughout their losing streak.

The Senators took the lead at 6:16 of the first period after they won a faceoff in the Red Wings' zone. Bobby Ryan moved around the net and had a backhander stopped by Bernier, but the puck deflected to Tierney, who deposited it into the goal.

Helm scored 45 seconds into the second period. He ripped a shot past the left skate of Nilsson off a behind-the-net feed from Justin Abdelkader.

Bertuzzi put Detroit on top 2-1 when he shoveled in a rebound of a Patrik Nemeth shot. Filip Hronek was also credited with an assist.

But Ottawa scored the last three goals of the second period to gain a 4-2 advantage. Borowiecki scored his first goal of the season at 3:15 of the period, from the edge of the left circle off a feed from Nick Paul.

Pageau's short-handed goal at 5:27 gave Ottawa the lead. He took the puck away from Anthony Mantha just inside the Senators' blue line, skated down the left side and fired a shot past Bernier's glove hand.

Duclair extended Ottawa's lead to two goals at 17:09 of the period. He flipped a shot just inside the crossbar from the left circle after a Chabot setup from the opposite side.

Duclair scored again on an empty net late in the third period.
