Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog each had a goal and an assist, Andre Burakovsky broke a tie with an unassisted goal late in the third period, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Boston Bruins 4-2 on Thursday night.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored and Philipp Grubauer stopped 39 shots to help the Avalanche start the season with three straight wins.

David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist and Zdeno Chara had the other goal for the Bruins. Jaroslav Halak had 32 saves for Boston, which lost for the first time in four games, all on the road, to start the year.

With the score tied 2-2, Burakovsky got the go-ahead score at 12:54 when he carried the puck into the Bruins' end, spun to shake a defender and beat Halak to make it 3-2. The goal came after Boston had a goal waved off on an offsides call earlier in the period.

Halak came off for an extra skater in the final minutes and Landeskog scored into the empty net, his second of the season, at 18:59.

The Bruins, who allowed four goals in the first three games, took the lead in the first when Brad Marchand fed Pastrnak in front, and his quick shot beat Grubauer at 7:58. It was Pastrnak's second of the season.

Boston went up 2-0 when Chara's blast from the point hit off Landeskog's stick and past Grubauer at 15:34 of the first. It was Chara's first of the year.

Colorado got one back just before the first intermission with a power play goal. Landeskog brought the puck into the offensive zone and fired a shot that went off the left post, bounced off Halak's back and fell into the crease where MacKinnon tapped it in at 19:05. It was MacKinnon's first of the year.

The Avalanche got the equalizer midway through the second when Matt Calvert got a loose puck against the boards, drove toward the net and fed Bellemare, who redirected it just inside the right post. It was his second of the season.
