Carter Hart picked up his first career shutout, and Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny backed him up with a goal and an assist apiece as the host Philadelphia Flyers flew past the New Jersey Devils 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Provorov now has 100 career points, two games into his fourth season. Hart made 25 saves as he got the shutout in his 32nd career start.

Kevin Hayes and Sean Couturier scored for the Flyers, who won their second straight to open the season. It's the first time in eight seasons that Philadelphia won its first two games.

Devils goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 30 of 34 shots but received no offensive support. New Jersey has now lost twice in regulation and once in a shootout to open the season.

The Devils controlled the offensive pace for much of the scoreless first period and outshot the Flyers 10-6.

The best scoring chance came with 1:50 left in the first as the Devils' Taylor Hall skated down the left wing and appeared to have a clean shot on a crisp pass through the crease. But Hart went sprawling to the ice and kept the game scoreless.

Eight minutes into the second period, the Flyers earned their second power play of the game. This time they converted for a 1-0 advantage at 9:52 when Provorov ripped a shot from the wing into the upper corner of the net.

The Devils had a two-man advantage for 12 second late in the second, but the Flyers killed off both penalties. Hayes nearly scored short-handed when it was five-on-four.

New Jersey picked up another two-man advantage with 2:31 left in the second, this time for the full two minutes. The Flyers killed off the two penalties again, with Hart's spectacular glove save against Hall the highlight of penalty kill.

Hayes put the Flyers ahead 2-0 just 33 seconds into the third on the power play. Couturier scored 24 seconds later as he corralled a loose puck in front and tapped it on the backhand past Schneider.

Konecny's unassisted goal at 11:46 of the third rounded out the scoring.
