Rookie Roope Hintz collected two goals and one assist and goalie Ben Bishop made 32 saves as the visiting Dallas Stars beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 Saturday afternoon to even their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series at one win apiece.

The best-of-seven series switches to Dallas on Monday for Game 3.

After Hintz opened the scoring at the 7:11 mark of the first period - first, he stole the puck from Patrick Maroon and fired a long shot before he found a seam and converted a pass from Mats Zuccarello -- a wild 72 seconds led to the final result.

With the teams playing four-on-four, Miro Heiskanen doubled the Stars lead at 13:39 with a goal that put his skills on full display. Heiskanen used his great speed to join Hintz on a two-on-one rush, received a pass that Hintz fed through the defender's legs and deked out Blues goalie Jordan Binnington before depositing the puck.

Colton Parayko gave the Blues life when he put the hosts on the board 46 seconds later with his first goal of the playoffs, working his way to a shooting lane from his point position and ripping a long shot over Bishop's glove hand just inside the near post.

However, Mattias Janmark added the eventual game-winner 26 seconds after that. Janmark and Jason Dickinson found themselves on an odd-man rush and completed a perfect give-and-go to make it a 3-1 game.

Jaden Schwartz again pulled the Blues within one when he deflected Parayko's point shot at 1:48 of the third period, a call that held up after a goaltender interference challenge by the Stars, but Hintz iced it with an empty netter in the final seconds.

Dickinson and Zuccarello each collected two assists in the win that came with some tense moments after Hintz took a penalty for putting the puck over the glass with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Binnington made 31 stops in the loss, including 17 in the third period to give his team a chance.
