Tomas Hertl notched a hat trick as the host San Jose Sharks erased a two-goal deficit with four unanswered goals to claim a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.
Logan Couture added one goal and two assists while Erik Karlsson collected one goal and one helper for the Sharks, who snapped a two-game losing skid by claiming the opener of a seven-game homestand. San Jose's Adin Hill made 40 saves, and Brent Burns and Alexander Barabanov both produced two assists.
Dillon Dube, Johnny Gaudreau and Adam Ruzicka -- his first NHL goal -- replied for the Flames, who dropped two straight games to finish a four-game road trip. Dan Vladar stopped 22 shots.
With the Flames holding a 3-1 edge midway through, the Sharks roared back. Karlsson's fourth goal in five games provided a boost at 10:08 of the middle frame. Karlsson was sprung on a breakaway and buried a five-hole shot for his seventh goal of the season.
Couture tied the affair with a power-play goal, a deflection tally, at 14:27 of the second frame. Hertl followed with his second of the game, a rebound marker with 1:50 left in the second period.
Hill, who played minor and junior hockey in Calgary, held the fort with 15 third-period saves while the Flames pushed for the equalizer, but Hertl's empty-net goal iced it with 41.2 seconds remaining to give him 12 tallies on the season.
Dube opened the scoring when he raced to the slot and redirected the pass from Milan Lucic 97 seconds into the game for his third goal of the season.
Hertl responded 8:58 into the clash, taking his time at the right faceoff dot to find the mark for a power-play goal. It was his fourth career hat trick and his first since January 2019.
Gaudreau notched his 10th goal of the season three minutes later, burying a top-shelf backhander from the slot. Ruzicka extended the lead at 4:31 of the second period, pouncing on a rebound after his deflection was stopped.
