Defenseman Roman Josi collected a goal and an assist in his 700th career game, lifting the Nashville Predators to a 4-2 victory over the visiting New Jersey Devils on Friday night.

Josi joined David Legwand, Shea Weber and Martin Erat as the fourth player to appear in 700 games for the Predators. Josi commemorated the occasion by posting his fifth multi-point game this season as Nashville improved to 8-0-3 in its past 11 meetings with the Devils.

Josi scored in the first period and was credited with the secondary assist on Philip Tomasino's goal in the second.

Juuse Saros made 23 saves and benefited from Nashville's defense that blocked 14 shots.

Defenseman Alexandre Carrier recorded a goal and an assist and Mikael Granlund also scored for Nashville, which won for the fifth time in six home games. Carrier contributed an empty-net goal with 1:10 remaining, and five seconds after Saros made a point-blank glove stop on New Jersey defenseman Damon Severson.

Andreas Johnsson and Tomas Tatar scored in the final 8:02 of the third period as New Jersey lost for the fifth time in six games (1-3-2).

New Jersey goaltender Jonathan Bernier allowed three goals on 30 shots.

Josi gave the Predators a 1-0 lead 7:31 into the game when he faked a pass and fired a wrist shot from the middle of the right circle that hit Bernier's pads. The puck trickled behind Bernier and into the net.

Nashville went ahead 2-0 when Nick Cousins made a cross-ice pass through the low slot that caromed off Tomasino's skate. Tomasino gained control before a defender could clear the puck and chipped a shot over Bernier's stick for his fourth goal of the season.

After New Jersey generated the first seven shots on goal of the third, the Predators extended the lead to 3-0 thanks to Filip Forsberg and Duchene effectively moving the puck.

Forsberg was positioned near the end boards and sent the puck to Duchene. Duchene whipped a backhanded pass from behind the net to Granlund, who was alone in the low slot and lifted a one-timer over Bernier's left pad.
