SUNRISE, Fla. -- Vincent Trocheck scored on his own rebound with 43 seconds left in overtime as the Florida Panthers earned a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at the BB&T Center.

Trocheck had two goals in the game and has six on the season.

The Panthers also got good news from their previously struggling power play unit, getting two goals with the man advantage. Those goals came from two of the Panthers' youngest players - Aaron Ekblad, 20, and Denis Malgin, 19.

In Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins, Florida went 0-for-7 on its power play and allowed a short-handed goal. This time, Florida went 2-for-3 on its power play.

After Ekblad scored in the first period and Malgin tallied in the second, Florida took a 3-1 lead with 15:31 left in the third period. Jaromir Jagr stick-handled through New Jersey's defense, setting up Trocheck for a one-timer, his fifth goal of the season.

James Reimer (2-1-0) has allowed a combined total of four goals during his two-game win streak. He was beaten by New Jersey's Travis Zajac's power-play goal in the second period and P.A. Parenteau's marker with 15:11 left in the third.

Panthers coach Gerard Gallant rested starting goalie Roberto Luongo, who has a personal three-game losing streak.

Florida got off to a great start, getting a goal with 7:02 left in the first period. After New Jersey's Kyle Palmieri was penalized for roughing, the Panthers worked the puck around. Finally, with 39 seconds left with the man advantage, Keith Yandle dished a pass to Ekblad, who one-timed a high shot over Schneider's right shoulder.

The Panthers used more good passing to take a 2-0 lead with 13:16 left in the second period. Florida's Jason Demers faked a shot and slid the puck to his right, where Malgin beat Schneider just under his glove. The shot appeared to handcuff Schneider.

New Jersey cut its deficit to 2-1 with 1:56 left in the second period. Palmieri's shot hit some traffic in front, and Zajac pounced on the loose puck for his fourth goal of the season. The Devils' power play was set up by a tripping penalty on Greg McKegg.

NOTES: Florida made two free-agent signings on July 1 that look wise. RW Jonathan Marchessault and RW Colton Sceviour each got two-year contracts. Marchessault, 25, had six goals and five assists in October after getting just seven goals and 11 assists in 45 games last season for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sceviour, 27, had five goals and two assists in October after getting just 11 goals and 12 assists in 71 games last season for the Dallas Stars. ... Devils G Cory Schneider, 30, finished October with a 4-2-1 record and a 1.86 goals-against average, stopping 94.1 percent of the shots he faced. His goals-against and his save percentages are on pace to be career highs. ... New Jersey scratched C Reid Boucher, D Vojtech Mozik and C Jacob Josefson. ... Florida scratched LW Shawn Thornton, LW Jussi Jokinen and D Steven Kampfer.
