LOS ANGELES -- Rickard Rakell knows how to make an entrance.

Rakell scored a goal and recorded two assists in his season debut as the Anaheim Ducks crushed the Los Angeles Kings 4-0 in a testy affair Tuesday night at Staples Center.

"I was hoping to do that and happy that I did, but the best thing is to get the win," said Rakell, who re-signed with the Ducks on Oct. 14 and returned after rehabbing from offseason abdominal surgery. "I was just trying to find (my) timing and everything throughout the game. I started feeling more comfortable the longer the game went on."

Joseph Cramarossa scored his first NHL goal and Antoine Vermette and Ryan Kesler also tallied for the Ducks (4-4-2), who have beaten the Kings in 12 of their last 16 regular-season meetings.

Goaltender John Gibson extended the scoring woes for the Kings (4-6-0), who haven't found the net in three straight games. Gibson made 30 saves.

"Any time you can beat L.A. in their building, it's positive," said Gibson, who gave up four goals in the first period of a 4-0 defeat by the Columbus Blue Jackets in his last outing Friday. "We just knew the last game wasn't our best and we knew we had to respond, and it's nice we can make a little statement and get a good win."

The Kings were coming off back-to-back losses, 1-0 in St. Louis on Saturday and 3-0 in Chicago on Sunday.

"The challenge was coming home after two losses on the road and we didn't respond," Kings center Anze Kopitar said. "That first period was not nearly as good, nor were the other two periods. We've got to play with a lot more emotion and more physical, putting up shots on net. Tonight was just not the game we certainly wanted to play, especially not against a division team."

Kings goalie Peter Budaj stopped 12 of 16 shots before being replaced by backup Jack Campbell at the start of the third period. Campbell had five saves.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the third, players from both clubs exchanged punches that resulted in game misconduct penalties for Cramarossa, Anaheim defenseman Clayton Stoner and Los Angeles defenseman Derek Forbort.

Kings left winger Kyle Clifford squared off twice in the first period, initially with Ducks right winger Jared Boll and later with defenseman Kevin Bieksa.

Rakell got the Ducks off and running on a goal with 31 seconds remaining in the first period. Rakell scored after Kesler kicked the puck to him following a faceoff with Nic Dowd and fired a rocket through the legs of Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin and past Budaj.

"The plan was always to shoot it if I got it and (Kesler) did a great face-off play, and I just tried to get it through," Rakell said.

Said Dowd, "We haven't scored a lot of goals in the last several games, so it would've been good to go out that period 0-0."

In the second period, Anaheim scored twice within 31 seconds. Vermette delivered the first tally, converting a pass by Rakell from behind the net on a power play at 2:49.

Kesler's tap-in on a power play and a pass from Ryan Getzlaf made it 3-0 at 3:20. It was Kesler's second goal this season.

After a Kings turnover, Cramarossa got into the act by scoring on a wraparound to cap the Ducks' run at 10:46 of the second.

The four goals came on only 13 shots by Anaheim.
